Give the song something only their friends would recognize
A birthday video gets more personal when the song mentions the person in it. Gemini's Create music tool can generate tracks from a description, with controls for genre, vocals, and length. Lyria 3.5 arrived in the Gemini app in September 2026.
Start with a first name, the birthday, and one friendly detail. Maya turning 31, loving iced coffee, and arriving late to brunch is enough for a first brief. It's an invented example, not a track we've generated or reviewed.
Find Create music before you write the whole song
Google requires you to be 18 or older, signed in with a supported account, and have Keep Activity enabled. Generation limits apply. Don't change that activity setting without understanding and accepting what it means for your account.
Open Upload & tools, then Create music. Choose vocals for a song or instrumental for a backing track. The short option is about a minute; full tracks are about two to three minutes and require selecting the Pro model. A model selector isn't a promise of one universal free allowance.
Write a personal brief, not a list of every fact about them
For Maya, the details are iced coffee and being late to brunch. If the birthday person's age isn't something they want shared, leave it out. Keep addresses, workplaces, private stories, and anything embarrassing out of the brief.
Choose one sound first. If the result isn't right, change one part of the brief, such as the genre or joke, so you can hear what the change did.
Create a short upbeat pop birthday song for [first name], who is turning [age]. Include [one favorite thing] and [one friendly, non-sensitive inside joke]. Use warm, playful lyrics, clear vocals, and a cheerful chorus. Keep the joke kind. Avoid copying a named artist or an existing song. Do not invent personal details.Check the song before it becomes the birthday surprise
Generated tracks include a digital watermark. A download button doesn't establish unrestricted commercial or royalty-free use. If the track is for a brand, paid promotion, or client deliverable, check the current terms and your publication platform before using it.
- Listen all the way through. Check how the name is pronounced and whether the lyrics added anything you didn't ask for.
- Decide whether the joke feels affectionate to the person receiving it. Remove anything you'd have to explain away.
- Use Download to save the audio as MP3 or the cover-art video as MP4.
- Listen again beside your birthday footage. Trim the video to a section you actually want to use, and keep speech easy to hear if you've added a voiceover.
If the lyrics distract, make a backing track instead
Select instrumental and describe the mood you want. You can keep the birthday message in your own voice while the music supplies the background. This brief is a suggested starting point; listen to the actual result before pairing it with a video.
Create a short instrumental birthday-video backing track. Use bright piano, light percussion, and a warm, cheerful mood. No vocals or spoken words. Keep the arrangement gentle enough to sit under a voiceover. Do not imitate a named artist or an existing song.
