What changed
ChatGPT can now find current job listings and freelance opportunities from sources such as Indeed, Upwork, Appcast, and the wider web. Results can include the original posting link, so you can check the role and apply on the source site.
OpenAI says job search is available to U.S. users on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. Resume formatting is available in English on the web across all plans. You may still see different results depending on your account.
Tell ChatGPT what you’re looking for
A request such as “find me a good job” leaves too much room for generic results. Include the role, location or remote preference, salary floor, experience level, and anything that would make you reject a listing immediately.
Find live [ROLE] jobs in [LOCATION OR REMOTE]. My salary floor is [AMOUNT], I have [EXPERIENCE LEVEL], and my dealbreakers are [LIST]. Return the original posting link, salary when listed, posting date when available, and why each role may fit. Flag anything you cannot verify, and do not invent missing details.Check the listing before you apply
- Open the original posting instead of applying from a copied summary.
- Confirm that the listing is still active and appears on the employer or trusted job platform.
- Check the employer name, location, salary, requirements, and application destination yourself.
- Do not send identity documents, banking details, or payment to someone simply because a result appeared in ChatGPT.
Tailor the resume without making anything up
Once you choose a real posting, use the job description to decide what belongs near the top of your resume. Highlight experience you already have; don’t invent experience you don’t.
Compare my resume with this job description. Identify the experience and proof I already have that match the role, what should move higher, and which requirements are not supported by my resume. Do not add skills, experience, results, or credentials I did not provide. Suggest truthful edits, then format a tailored version for my review. You still need to check each listing
ChatGPT can save you time, but it can’t promise that every listing is current, real, or right for you. It also can’t promise an interview. Treat its results as a shortlist you still need to check.
